Digital Self-Guided Onboarding Program: Cielo

TLDR: standardizing an onboarding process for a rapidly growing company

Cielo (previously known as Pinstripe) a leader in recruitment process outsourcing, hires hundreds of new recruiters each year and needs to quickly and consistently train the teams on their particular approach to recruiting, tools and technology. We developed a branded onboarding and training experience called “Hive.”

As there was no existing practice in place, Translator (where I worked at the time) started from scratch with orientation materials (everything from post-its to printouts to powerpoints) from various departments and used them to build out a curriculum for a week-long training course. We built an interactive, self-guided learning platform that was designed to eventually house other learning tracks as well. The curriculum is made up of modules that are completed by new employees each day of their first week.

Each day, the new hire completes three distinct types of actions:

  • Consume (watching presentations and videos),

  • Demonstrate (completing onboarding tasks),

  • Create (providing feedback for leaders and recording learnings for future new hires)
